EMERALD ASH BORER FOUND IN SOUTH BARRINGTON
Image:

South Barrington has discovered the emerald Ash Borer in several areas of the Village.  This killer of all varieties of Ash trees has been evidenced over the past few months.

In an effort to determine how great the infestation is, the Village is working with "The Care of Trees" company who will be making a street-by-street review of our parkway trees.  If you see those cars/trucks in and around your area, it may be the arborists looking for and logging the locations of infected trees.  If they can readily see private property trees showing signs of the boreres in the close proximity of the parway area, they will also make a note of that in their report to us but will not site inspect the entire areas of individual, private property.

The Conservancy suggests that if you suspect, or have Ash trees on your property, you may contact the arborist and tree service company of your choice for an inspection and determination of what is possible in the treatment of the Ash Borer.  If trees are already infected, treatment may not work.  Treatment must begin prior to any infestation.

If you have any questions, contact Building Officer Ray Wolfel at the Village Hall, 847-381-7510.
