Below is what to expect in the next few months. ·Non-response Follow-up(May 1–Jul 10, 2010) and Re-interview (May 7–Jul 27, 2010):Census takers will visit homes that did not return a completed questionnaire by early April to conduct a personal interview and obtain the required information. ·Coverage Follow-up(Apr 26, 2010–Aug 13, 2010): This is a telephone operation which checks to ensure that no person is left out nor counted in more than one place in the Census and clarifies collected responses to improve the accuracy of Census data. ·Vacant Delete Check (Jul 24–Aug 25, 2010): Census workers visit to verify addresses that enumerators recorded in the Non-response Follow-up as either vacant or not a housing unit on Census Day. ·Field Verification (Aug 6-Sept 3, 2010): Census workers verify the existence of units in which we have a completed form, but do not match an address in the Census Master Address File. What is the Census? A count of everyone living in the United States. All US residents must be counted - people of all races and ethnic groups, both citizens and non-citizens. When is the Census? The ten-question form was mailed to households in March 2010 which should have been mailed back by April 1, 2010. If not, a Census Worker will visit to complete the information. Why is there a Census? The US Constitution requires a census every ten years. The first US Census was in 1790. Why is the Census important in this community? The Census directly affects how more than $300 billion per year in federal and state funding is allocated to communities for neighborhood improvements, public health, education, transportation and more. Is your Census information safe? By law, the Census Bureau cannot share your answers with anyone, including federal, state and local agencies. By law, census information cannot be shared with immigration services.
